by taxi. There you will find the superb beaches, and the harbour
with its busy comings and goings.
There is a working fishing fleet, ferries to other Canary Islands
and numerous boat trips on offer - to see the whales and dolphins,
for fishing, or just cruises along the picturesque coast.
The unspoilt and picturesque Island of Gomera is just 75 mins
away by ferry and well worth a visit. There is a sailing school
and also scuba diving for the ambitious.
The town, with many pedestrianised streets, has all the
usual tourist shops and banks but also an excellent variety
of shops
that have not lost their local Spanish flavour. The excellent
coastal path leads all the way through Playa de las Americas.
There are also walks over Chayofa mountain!
